Letters from Patients & Families
Over thirty years, families from across the United States and around the world have sat down after returning home from San Antonio and written Dr. Bonilla a letter. These letters and drawings came from families around the world — parents, children, and siblings who wanted to say thank you in their own words. Hundreds of families have sent letters, drawings, and notes to Dr. Bonilla’s practice over the years.
About These Letters
These are just some of the hundreds of letters that arrive at our office. These letters did not arrive through a patient satisfaction survey. Nobody asked for them. Families wrote them because they wanted to — because something significant had happened to their child and to their family, and writing it down in their own hand and sending it to the person responsible felt like the right thing to do.
Most of these letters come from the actual children who underwent the microtia surgery because they are so happy with their new ears. They come from teenagers who wrote their own notes years after the procedure, when they were old enough to understand what had been given to them. They come from grandmothers and siblings. They come in English, in Spanish, in other languages. Some are a single paragraph. Some are four pages. Some include drawings.
No statistic tells the story as clearly as these letters do.
